Duri and your privacy

Duri is a reader for the books and documents you already have. It has no account, no analytics and no server of its own. This page says what that means in practice.

What Duri collects

Nothing. Duri does not collect, store or send any information about you or your reading to us or to anyone else. There is no sign‑in, no tracking, no advertising and no analytics library in the app.

Where your things live

Your books, your place in them, your highlights, notes, drawings and settings stay on your device, in Duri's own folder. Your reading time and goal stay on the device too and are never synced.

iCloud, if you turn it on

With Duri Pro you can sync your library list, places, bookmarks, highlights and notes, and, if you choose, the book files themselves, through your own iCloud account. That data goes to Apple's iCloud servers under your Apple Account and is encrypted so that only your devices can read it. We cannot see it. Turn sync off in Settings and nothing more is sent.

What leaves your device, and only when you ask

• Saving a web page or following a site fetches that page from its own website, as a browser would.
• Catalogues (Project Gutenberg, or a server you add) are contacted only when you open them; a sign‑in you enter for your own server is kept in your device's Keychain and sent to that server alone.
• Look up on Wikipedia opens Wikipedia in your browser with the words you selected.
• Reading aloud uses a voice built into the app and run on your device; for a language it does not speak, the system's own voices read instead. Recognising scanned pages and summaries happen on the device too, with Apple's recognition and Apple Intelligence. Nothing is sent to us.
• Buying Duri Pro goes through Apple's App Store; we receive no personal details from it.

The widgets, the share sheet and the watch

Duri's widgets, its share‑sheet extension and its Apple Watch app read a small summary of your library that the app leaves for them on the device. It never goes further than your own devices.

Children

Duri is rated 4+ and collects nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
